MUC-now WAW-KRK

Late flight to Krakow tonight. Chopin airport is almost empty already and being cleaned for tomorrow's passengers.
Since many years, when I spotted the lights of an aircraft in the sky, I envied its passengers. Tonight, for the first time I envied the lights of the cars in a random bavarian suburb. I feel I'm growing older.
Nevertheless, this blog has several more airports to visit. And I still like it.
Next is GVA. Stay tuned!

33 000 ft

Last week I have been observing the american night sky from a mountain about 10 700 ft high (3200m). I wanted to take nice pictures of the stars but it was impossible this time.
Instead, I took a picture of the sky on the way home to Munich. So there you have it, this is how the sky looks like from 33 000 ft (10000m) above the Earth.
Not very impressive? Try to keep your hand steady for 2-3 seconds in a moving airplane! That is impressive! :)

Tomorrow I will show you the telescope!!

Is it a good sign?

Spotted on the City Night Line from Paris to Munich.

My question is the following: if a drunk person sees things being distorted, could he see this distorted sign as normal?

I guess we'll have to do the experiment! Where is a drunk travel-mate when you need him the most?

Alps

Back in Munich...

If I'm not mistaken, this is part of the Austrian Alps.

Smoke

There's no smoke without fire they say...
Here I present to you the very first example, spotted somewhere between Munich and Athens. It is the smoke left behind by another airplane, along with the almost full moon.

Ok, maybe there was some sort of fire in there :)

The plane of the rising night

Flying from Munich to Athens, that is from west to east. Seeing the sunset from an airplane is fine, but seeing the rise of the night is amazing! This is caused by the altitude of the airplane which increases the horizon of the observer. As always, klick on the image to enlarge it.

Snow circles in Munich

-What do alien scouts do when they find that their favorite crop-circling wheat field is covered in snow?
-Snow or not they do their job. You are in Germany mister.
